Michael Wautier
Biographical note:
"Michael, an artist at heart since childhood, began by sketching comic strips filled with imaginative characters and stories. In the 1980s, he honed his skills in live portrait art in Montmartre, Paris, near the Sacré-Cœur. Later, he pursued a Web Design course in Brussels and moved to Portugal in 2001. In 2003, he launched a website offering charcoal and pastel portrait commissions based on photographs, which caught the attention of private studios and led him to teach Fine Arts on the south bank of the Tagus River. Inspired by this experience, he opened his own studio in Azeitão, which remained active until the Covid-19 pandemic. At the end of 2023, he embraced the challenge of illustrating the book *In My Time*, blending his artistic talent with his graphic design experience. This was followed by illustrating *The Seven Tales of Aunt Joana*, a 64-page book. Since then, he has moved away from charcoal to fully embrace the magic of oil painting, a medium he explores with passion and sensitivity. His works, each one a unique piece, are now available on commission.
